Getting On
Scripted by Sara Masters

True stories of growing older in 21st century Britain

What does it mean to grow old in Britain today? And what does being 'old' mean anyway?

Individuals from across the UK share their stories of what life has thrown at them since turning 60, discovering no matter what age you feel, what's on your birth certificate can stand between you and your human rights.

"It's very important that we keep our originality, that we keep ourselves as being people. Everybody's lumped together once you're a certain age. You almost lose who you are."

iceandfire explores human rights stories through performance. Getting On is performed by members of their national outreach network, Actors For Human Rights, made up of over 450 professional actors dedicated to drawing public attention to a range of contemporary human rights concerns. The actors and musicians involved volunteer their performance skills and public profile to encourage acceptance of human rights laws and principles and to give voice to people whose basic human rights have been violated.
